Hello there!  Welcome!  Thank you for stopping by!

The image accompanying this blog makes me laugh.   It also reminds me of how we, as children, have expectations placed upon us to be what our parents and others want us to be.   There are social norms, of course, that we need to observe in order to be kind and respectful to others.  Beyond that, it seems that most of the expectations are the personal preferences of  parents.  Some parents want us to “be normal”, so that they can be proud of us since they see us as a reflection of themselves. Some parents give us the freedom to say “Nope” and discover who we really are.  And naturally some parents fall in between conformance and freedom.

As individuated spirits, we come in with our own vision of what we desire to be, do, and have.  If we fall in line with what we are taught and become “normal”, we may lose our authenticity, our individual gifts to the world may not be shared, and we may never be truly happy.  If we say “nope”, we are aligned with our true self and can manifest our lives however we choose,  because we’ve been able to explore and learn about life on our own terms.

As a child, I was forced to conform and “be normal”.    As a adult, who has broken free and said “Nope!!” to the past, I  am happy!

So, how about you?  Do you want to be normal?   Do you want to be happy?  Are you both?  Are you neither?

Until next time,

Namaste
